Her New Single Knocks Down Top 40 Panel in Less Than 24 Hours
Big Machine and Republic Records have pulled off an unprecedented feat, as Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” has closed the entire Top 40 panel in less than 24 hours—a first in Pop radio history. Charlie Walk, Gary Spangler and team, having knocked down Pop in record time, are already preparing a repeat performance at Hot AC next week. (x)

Shake it Off (Official Instrumental) - Taylor Swift

This is beautiful.

I REMEMBER HEARING THIS IN THE BACKGROUND BEFORE THE LIVECHAT. That clearly means that the instrumentals to 1989 was most likely playing that time! AHHHHHHH

OMG YEAH!

OH MY GOSH. When we were sitting waiting for the livechat to start and for Taylor to walk out this started playing and we all gasped and then immediately started dancing in our seats. This was before we knew it was her song. And we all looked at each other like “Is this..it…?” and we decided it wasn’t because it couldn’t be. But we all kept enjoying the music. WE LIKED IT BEFORE WE KNEW IT WAS TAYLORS. That’s how you know it’s a hit.

"Taylor Swift may not be a pop artist forever, or even for very long; perhaps later in her career, she’ll return to country music with open arms. I wouldn’t be shocked if she made an acoustic album someday. However, this is where she is right now — holding oversized boom boxes in gaudy music videos, jiving with Max Martin in the studio, flipping off the naysayers who don’t think she can make spectacular pop music. She can, and she will. The rest of us will just have to get used to it."

“I was listening to a lot of late 80’s pop, because I really loved the chances they were taking I loved how bold they were. So being inspired by that I started delving into the late 80’s - and what I found was that it was apparently a time of limitless potential. And the idea that you can do what you want, be who you want, wear what you want, love what you want - bright colors, bold chances, rebellion. The idea of that was so inspiring to me…but basically in thinking about that, and thinking about how this new album is a bit of a rebirth for me because it’s so now. I’ve never really made these kinds of changes before. And having been born on December 13th, 1989…this album is called 1989.”
